Kits and hand-overs

Ce contenu n’est pas encore disponible dans votre langue.

Lend a box with twelve things in it, and one doesn’t come back, or comes back broken: each thing keeps its own record of who had it, when, and what happened. Nothing is lost.

Lend on a box works as on anything else: who it goes to, when it’s due back, the condition it goes out in, a note and photos. It is one hand-over, with a line for the box and one for every thing inside it, all the way down, each remembering where it sat (“in Camera bag › Lens pouch”).

  • Something inside that is already lent, in repair or no longer in use stays here; Kept says so.
  • A kit also lists its parts not in the kit (“Spare battery is in the living room”): tick the ones to lend too.
  • Nothing moves: every thing reads With Sam (in Camera bag) since 3 Oct.
  • Undo takes the whole hand-over back for 7 days, while nothing of it has changed.

Kept reminds you two days before it’s due back, and when it’s overdue. It never messages them.

Each thing can’t be lent to anyone else. Moving it, trashing it or putting something new into the lent box asks first (“This is with Sam: mark it returned first, or go ahead?”). Nothing changes without you saying so.

Mark everything returned (on the box, or on the person’s page) shows every thing still out, each ticked Came back. For each, choose:

Choice What happens
Came back It’s back where it was; add the condition it came back in
Damaged The same, with a note and Update its condition
Not returned It stays with them; reminders go on
Lost Its line closes as lost, and the thing is marked lost, never deleted
How many came back (a quantity) The rest stays out on its own line

The hand-over then says “11 of 12 came back”. Undo puts every line back as it was. A thing not returned is resolved later from its own page: Mark returned, or Lost.

  • A thing’s Loans tab: every loan, with whom, what it went with, both notes and both conditions, and how it ended.
  • The person’s page: what they still have, grouped by hand-over (“3 things with Camera bag”).
  • A box’s Loans tab: its hand-overs and how many came back.
  • History: “Lent Camera bag to Sam”, “Came back from Sam, broken”, “Lost by Sam”.

A kit is a container with a parts list: what should be in it. Move a part out, lend it or lose it, and the kit still knows.

  • Parts → Make this a kit on a container: its contents are ticked as parts; add more by search. A thing is a part of at most one kit, in the kit’s location.
  • The Parts tab says Complete, “2 parts not in the kit” or With Sam since 3 Oct, and each part: In the kit, Elsewhere (with Put back), Missing, With someone, or In the Trash.
  • Check this kit counts it with a scan session: its list is the parts, wherever they are.
  • Edit parts and No longer a kit can be undone for 7 days.
  • Search and lists filter by Kits and Incomplete kits.

Lending and returning need a connection. Offline, the status shows (“with Sam”), and a kit check works as any count does. A Kept export carries hand-overs, their lines and kits with the location.
